Don’t take our word for it.
From first-time buyers to lifelong collectors, here’s what folks say after they find their piece.
Im used to buying cheaper jewelry that doesn't last and turns my skin green. Now that I found Desert Opals ive gotten several rings and a couple necklaces, not a single one has tarnished. They still look as shiny as the day I got them. Easy to clean and not to mention, VERY AFFORDABLE sterling silver jewelry. My new favorite place to shop!!
CLCherish LouFitness Influencer Simply stunning. Fantastic customer service, beautiful stunning rings, necklaces, & more. Highly recommended!!!! ❤️❤️ Amazing all round! Packaging, shipping, and follow-up was top tier. I’m so glad I went through Desert OPALS & not a big online store.
MJMelanie JeanEducator They have 100% authentic Native American Jewelry! Ive been a silversmith for over 20 years and I'll be the first to let you know the quality of their pieces are some of the best ive seen in New Mexico. All their gemstones are natural and their silver has the weight I like in Jewelery. If I'm not making my jewelry I'm getting it from Desert Opals.
LCLily C.Silversmith Desert Opals and Fine Jewelry in Ruidoso, New Mexico is truly a gem of a store. I’ve purchased several pieces from them—including rings, earrings, and bracelets—and every item has been of exceptional quality with genuine stones and beautiful craftsmanship. Their prices are more than fair, and they ship quickly if you’re out of the area, which I really appreciate.
DGDavid G. We stop by every time we're in Ruidoso! The owners are very nice people and really know their gemstones. This is my favorite place to buy sterling silver jewelry because I can trust I will get a quality piece, with genuine natural stones, at a very fair price! I HIGHLY recommend Desert Opals to all collectors.
AMAnna MarieReal Estate Agent I have enjoyed the variety of jewelry pieces at Desert Opals. They carry a variety of rare and valuable to reasonably priced opal, and turquoise jewelry. They also carry handbags, wallets for men and women, and gem stones. You will definitely find something for your loved ones. I have compared prices to other stores, and Desert Opals price supersede any other local jewelers.

info@desertopalsjewelry.comIs your jewelry real sterling silver?
Yes. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper for strength and durability. All Desert Opals jewelry is made with genuine .925 sterling silver. Look for the .925, STERLING or SS stamp.
Are your gemstones real?
Yes. We use genuine, natural gemstones, including opal, turquoise and other stones. Natural stones vary in color, pattern and matrix, and that uniqueness is part of their value.
Which pieces are Native American made?
We carry both. Our Native American pieces are authentic and handmade by Native artists, and we credit the artist whenever we can. Look for details like “Navajo Made” and the artist’s name in the product title. We also carry handmade non-Native sterling silver. Tap Filter in the shop to browse the Native and non-Native collections separately.
Is every piece one of a kind?
Many of our pieces are one of a kind because of the natural stones and handmade craftsmanship. Once a piece sells, an exact duplicate usually isn’t available.
How do I know my ring size? Can rings be resized?
Ring sizes are listed right in the product name (for example, “sz 7 1/4”). Some pieces can be resized, but designs with stones or detailed silverwork may have limits, so please contact us before you buy if you think you’ll need an adjustment.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. Shipping is free on orders of $99 or more. Every piece is inspected by our team before it ships.
What’s your return policy?
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery for unworn items in their original condition and packaging. Custom orders, sale or discounted items, and earrings are final sale. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 3-5 business days. If something arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us within 48 hours and we’ll take care of you.
Will sterling silver tarnish or turn my skin green?
Sterling silver can tarnish over time as it reacts with air, moisture and skin oils. That’s normal, reversible and doesn’t mean the silver is low quality. Occasional dark or green marks on skin come from skin chemistry, lotions or humidity, and are harmless and easy to clean.
How do I care for opal and turquoise?
Clean with a soft silver polishing cloth and skip harsh chemicals. Take your jewelry off before showering, swimming or heavy activity. Opals are softer and can crack with sudden temperature changes, so store them in a soft pouch away from heat and sunlight. Keep turquoise away from lotions and perfumes.
